In the middle of the 19th century, the rapid ascent of one of the most important textile centers took place in this city and Lodz became a “Polish Manchester”. Several factury buildings are remarkable for this part of the history and it’s kind of obvious that one of the longest shopping streets, the Piotrkowska, is located in Lodz.
