Autumn came early this year, bringing wind, rain and low spirits. But the season doesn’t have to be a gloomy one. After all, parks are at their most beautiful in autumn. The colourful leaves give parks a special atmosphere. So instead of holing up at home, go out and take a walk. Where? Below you’ll find a few suggestions.
HERITAGE PARK IN MAURZYCE
Just an hour’s drive from Lodz and Warsaw, you’ll find the open-air museum in Maurzyce. The museum shows a typical village of the Łowicz region from the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum grounds include residential houses from that period, monuments of the so-called “small architecture” (wayside shrines, a bread oven, a windmill) and agricultural machinery. The buildings located in Maurzyce are distinguished by their unique colours and come from various localities of Łowicz County.
JÓZEF PIŁSUDSKI PARK IN ŁÓDŹ
If you don’t want to leave the city, there’s Józef Piłsudski Park in the centre of Lodz. The park, popularly known as Park na Zdrowiu (Zdrowie Park), covers an area of over 170 hectares. There’s something here for everyone. A shooting range, playgrounds, a zoo and a botanical garden are just some of the attractions that await.

WOLIN ISLAND
You can also go for an autumn walk at the seaside, e.g. to Wolin National Park located next to Międzyzdroje. Wolin is Poland’s first maritime park and includes the most beautiful stretch of the country’s cliff coast as well as unique beech forests. So gather your strength and climb Piaskowa Góra and Zielonka Hill for a panorama of the park with a view of Szczecin Lagoon.
KOŚCIUSZKO MOUND
How about seeing Cracow from a different perspective? Kościuszko Mound offers you an autumn panorama of the city. From here, you can admire the Cracow sights and even see all the way to the mountains. Discover an entirely different atmosphere than the crowded Main Square and enjoy this opportunity to spend some time in an active way.
SILESIAN PARK
On the border of Siemianowice Śląskie, Chorzów and Katowice lies Silesian Park. Covering an area of 620 hectares, this is an oasis of greenery and tranquillity. The park is home to various species of trees and shrubs, ponds and pools, and the Silesian Zoological Garden. It is a good place not only for a walk, but also for cycling, roller skating or jogging. Children will certainly enjoy the largest amusement park in Poland that is also located here.
As you can see, Poland offers you lots of possibilities to enjoy the autumn vibes. No matter which place you choose, remember to stay at a Vienna House hotel and warm up with a glass of mulled wine or winter tea with honey.
