Berlin loves fashion and fashion loves Berlin

When the stars begin filling the front row seats and the models take over the catwalk, then it’s time again for Fashion Week in Berlin. There’s plenty to discover from 18 to 22 January 2016 when young up-and-comers and the more established designers descend upon Berlin for the 13th Fashion Week. Here are some of the most important facts & figures.

An absolute highlight: the fashion shows in the tent at Brandenburg Gate. Designer Sasa Kovacevic will open the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on 19 January with a show of the 2016/2017 autumn/winter collection from his label SADAK. Next to international designers, Fashion Week will also be a stage for today’s hottest young Berlin design labels.

One hot tip is the Berlin fashion label MALAIKARAISS. This year MALAIKARAISS goes Hollywood with an exclusive jewellery inspired by the new Star Wars film. Visitors can check out the collection with popular characters like Chewbacca, Darth Vader or R2D2 on 20 January 2016 in the mecollectors Room in Berlin-Mitte. You can already buy your favourites now in select stores such as the VOO Store in Berlin.

On 21 January 2016, get ready to be mesmerised by the creations of up-and-coming Spanish designer XAVI REYES. His collection promises a blend of the feminine and masculine, of the futuristic and traditional. To be seen on Straße des 17. Juni. One style fits all!

Also part of the package: the Queen of Latex. International stars like Lady Gaga, Rita Ora or Kate Moss are great fans of the exclusive latex designs from London-based designer Atsuko Kudo.

From urbanwear and streetwear to classical quality design to green fashions with an eye on sustainability – it’s all here! Come find your inspiration for next winter at the large fashion fairs such as

  • Panorama in the ExpoCenter at Berlin Brandenburg Airport in Schönefeld
  • Premium at Station-Berlin at Gleisdreieck
  • Show & Order in the historic power station on Köpenicker Straße in Kreuzberg
  • Seek in Arena Berlin at Flutgraben in Berlin-Treptow
  • or in the Greenshowroom and at the Ethical Fashion Show at Postbahnhof am Ostbahnhof.

…and psst: Curvy is sexy! Some 70 international labels focus all their love and attention on the “Plus Size”.

Looking, shopping, wowing – that can really wear one down. Well, of course. After all, Fashion Week means Fashion Days and Nights. The coolest way to end your personal fashion run is in the SKYKITCHEN Bar at andel’s Hotel Berlin, one of the largest design hotels in the German capital. Just a stone’s throw from the great fashion shows, the glass-enclosed panorama at 65 m above the ground spans across all of Berlin. Glass? Cocktail kicks Berlin style.

The Berlin Fashion Week calendar for January 2016 is filling up. Time to get out of your winter couch potato look and out into lively Berlin!

Magazine prompter, limelight nudger, storyteller, lady of sound, little tweety bird behind the cameras – you might give Anita many names. But one thing is for sure: She is a passionate PR woman who loves sharing behind-the-scenes hotel stories with you.
