We all know Prague is considered to be one of the most enchanting cities in the world. Its streets, its architecture, its bars, restaurants and explosive nightlife contribute majorly to its charm and our wish to explore it entirely. And what better way to do so than with a bird’s eye view and some of the most photogenic landscapes your camera lens will ever capture? Charge that battery and visit the spots with the most breathtaking, postcard picture worthy views of The City of a Hundred Spires!
Letná Park –the oasis in the centre
Letná Park is located on famous Letná Hill above the Vltava River right next to the heart of Prague. Just one bridge away from Charles Bridge, the park offers extensive grassy areas perfect for sports, picnics and all other types of recreation. It is one of the top spots for Czechs and foreigners alike on a sunny day, and its Beer Garden is one of the most famous in Prague. There you can enjoy a fresh glass of beer (pivo in Czech) while witnessing some of the most beautiful views of the city.
Vitkov – where the history beats
As a place once used as Emperor Charles’s vineyard grounds, nowadays Vitkov is a hill most famous, undoubtedly, for The National Monument on top of it. But that’s not quite all – the sight you get to enjoy once you reach the top of the hill can definitely take your breath away!
Žižkov Television Tower – the tallest treasure in Prague
Located near Vitkov Hill, in the iconic Žižkov district, the Žižkov TV Tower is the tallest building in Prague – 216m to be exact. Built in the late 80s to early 90s of the past century, the TV tower was considered by some to be the world’s ugliest building. Nonetheless, it’s become an icon of Prague and its observation deck, standing at 93m, can offer some of the most spectacular 360˚ views of the city.
Vyšehrad – the former seat of Czech kings
Even though Vyšehrad is most popular because of its cemetery containing the remains of some of the most important people in Czech history, this historic fort can offer much more. It was also a seat of the Bohemian kings so it is full of historical memories. After witnessing the beautiful Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul and getting a bite to eat in one of the local bars, make sure you head to the edge of the hill to get that iconic picture of The Golden City!
The Dancing House – architecture meets Prague
Built in the final decade of the 20th century, the Dancing House represents Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, as such was the idea of Canadian architect Frank Gehry. Also a source of controversy in the past, today it’s regarded as one of the most emblematic buildings of Prague. But Fred & Ginger offer more than modern architecture – the top-floor patio can let you experience Prague right from the heart of it, with spectacular views of Prague Castle and the Vltava River.
What spot would be your favorite? How about accepting a challenge and taking pictures of all of them?
