More Vienna House for Berlin
Lovely, cozy, bright and Easy. On 30 September, Vienna House – and Berlin – are expecting a new addition to the hotel family: Vienna House Easy Berlin. It must be sisterly love because the continuation of the Vienna House love story wasn’t planned for just anywhere in the German capital. No, no, no – the newcomer can be found in the immediate vicinity of andel’s by Vienna House Berlin, in the middle of lively Prenzlauer Berg right next door to Friedrichshain and Lichtenberg.
“Pre-opening” is the magic word that gets all involved in the design-and-build process excited in the final days and hours before the hotel opening – and rouses the guests’ curiosity about the new member of the family. Christina Brandstätter, project coordinator at Vienna House, reports on the first hotel opening in which Vienna House also managed the construction. Just check out our really interesting “Making-Of”.
July 2016: Old made new again
The address Storkower Straße 162 receives a complete make-over. Once home to the competition, the letters “Vienna House Easy Berlin” are now emblazoned above the door. Down-to-earth, cool and unpretentious, the New Kid on the Block is staking its place in Berlin. With the takeover of the 152-room property, the old curtains, furniture, carpets and kitchen appliances have to go. A first sample room is prepared in a fresh blue colour. The mobile concierge is set up to provide free high-speed WiFi, digital newspapers and international magazines, as well other services. Room numbers, menus and more are prepared behind the scenes. The first milestone is in sight: the completion of 67 Easy rooms by 30 September 2016.
August 2016: Refreshing charm with a local touch
Architects, builders, management and the future hosts plan, sweat and polish the new concept together. The first cool furniture and cosy, comfy box spring beds move in. Décor with a local touch and a nod to city, like the Berlin bear, adorn the walls. Carpets with the Berlin skyline literally lay the city at the guests’ feet. Even the reception stands on a carpet that traces the former path of the Berlin Wall.
September: The countdown is on!
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee already wafts through the bakery-style breakfast restaurant, and the deli and lobby bar are getting ready to greet the first guests with cool Berlin drinks and snacks. A bicycle on the wall hints at the possibility of discovering the hidden secrets of the German capital by bike. Rentals will be available.
Young professionals and the active type will love it. The hotel’s three meeting rooms are ideal for infusing creativity and casual informality into brainstorming and joint work sessions with colleagues. The lobby is another communicative space, where co-working corners with cosy sofa swings and Bundt pan lamps create the right atmosphere for thinking outside of the box. For a change of pace, it’s off to Volkspark Friedrichshain, the Velodrom or just a jaunt about town.
