I’m sure you’ve heard that Pilsen has the most famous and best beer in the world. But did you know that angelo by Vienna House Pilsen is linked with the local brewery by a bridge?
Pilsner Urquell beer – A Beer for Popes
More than a century-and-a-half ago a story began to unfold that has since been inscribed in golden letters into the history of the Czech nation and of beer brewing around the world. It is the story of courage to blaze a new, unexplored trail that led to the creation of a new type of beer – a bottom-fermented pale lager later given the name “pilsner” in commemoration of its birthplace. Today Pilsner Urquell is the world’s best-selling beer and even the Pope’s favorite. The tradition of sending Pilsner Urquell to the Pope began in 2011 when the Czech Republic made a special lager for him and sent it to Vatican. Every year since then, the Pope receives his “blessed greeting” from Pilsen and appreciates it a lot.

How to brew beer?
If you are interested in how Pilsner Urquell beer is brewed, I can recommend the brewery’s beer tapping school. Here you will learn how to tap beer “up to the level” as well as what the terms “čochtan”, “šnyt” and “mlíko” mean. Actually every glass of brewed beer is an art, so let yourself and your friends be part of this masterpiece as well. Plus you will receive a certificate of completion of the Pilsner Urquell Beer Tapping School and a half-litre beer glass with your name on it! It’s definitely worth it. As you can imagine, the brewery is the perfect place for teambuilding events or stag parties.
After several hours in the brewery – including tasting – you will probably appreciate the ‘golden beer bridge’ leading to angelo by Vienna House Pilsen 🙂 .
