Experience the „real“ authentic Prague night life

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, the Pearl of Europe, Golden Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires – all nicknames for the capital of Czechia. But primarily it is the city that never sleeps. With its 773 pubs, clubs and restaurants, 96 theatres and 322 museums, Prague is the world’s most fun destination. There are so many options for where to go and what to experience that it is hard to choose. But don’t worry, here are 5 places you shouldn’t miss in Prague after dark…

The Prague party triangle

Feel like dancing? Perfect! Prague’s magical “party triangle” is located in the city centre between the streets Dlouhá, Kozí and Dušní in Prague 1. The must-visit bars here are James Dean, with retro music; Hangar, designed like an aircraft with pilots and stewardesses; or Bed Lounge Bar, with real beds instead of tables. You also shouldn’t miss Kozička, a popular pub where you can meet Czech models or ice hockey and football players.

Culture for all!

Discover the theatres of Golden Prague! Bold, unique, experimental, progressive and classical – these are just some of the words you could use to describe contemporary theatre in Prague. In this city of a hundred spires, there are dozens of stages, from independent student troupes to experimental playhouses, black light productions and grand edifices such as the National Theatre. So head to Laterna magika, the foreign language friendly stage of the National Theatre with its own specific dramaturgy; the Estates Theater, where Mozart performed; or see a concert at Prague’s Municipal House. Just book your tickets online in advance.

Two beers or not two beers…

I’m sure you’ve heard that Czech beer is among the best in the world – and that it is actually cheaper than water at the local pubs. Beer is so ingrained in Czech culture that the beer industry is considered a part of the national heritage. That’s why we call it “liquid bread”.

We have so many beer tours, for example at the Prague Beer Museum, where you can try all the locally crafted beers or the different classes of draught beer. Yet the best and most authentic experience is to have a beer with a local. But be careful! When Czechs say “Let’s go for a beer”, we actually mean more than a few half-litre glasses. Can you finish all the beer glasses lined up in a row?

Here are some tips for where I would take you for a beer: Peron, Prostor, Potrefená husa or Local

Mulled wine challenge

The festive season and most wonderful time of the year is coming. The sun sets around 5 p.m., which means you’ll see lots of lights in the festively decorated city of a hundred spires these days. Why not join the local tradition and go from one Christmas market to another for a mulled wine challenge at night? The traditional competition among friends has really simple rules: Drink at least one cup of mulled wine at all the Christmas markets throughout the city in the shortest amount of time. Who’s in?

Marketa joined the Vienna House family in January 2016. Coming to us from one of our clients, she can see our services from both perspectives. She loves eating and travelling, although she prefers the Czech Republic and especially Prague. For her, Prague is the most beautiful city in the world.
