CRACOW EXCURSIONS

If you have time for a day trip out of Cracow, take a tour of the Wieliczka salt mines, where you'll find chambers hacked out of rock salt, extraordinary underground salt lakes, unique salt sculptures and even a series of chapels. Visitors can explore over 3 km of winding corridors, climb 800 stairs and descend 135 m below the earth's surface.

Most romantic places

The little village of Lanckorona, just 30 km from Cracow, is famous for its romantic flair. Warm up with a cup of hot coffee on the market square before strolling to the castle. Enjoy Valentine’s Day in the fresh air of the surrounding woods.

EXPERIENCE CRACOW

For over 600 years, a bugle call delivered from the tower of St. Mary's Church has marked the passing of every hour. This is the only such custom to be practised anywhere in the world. Another highlight is Leonardo's Lady with an Ermine – one of only four female portraits by the Renaissance master, today it hangs in Cracow's Wawel Castle.

EXPLORE CRACOW

Cracow is characterised by numerous Jewish buildings. Thanks to the film Schindler's List – the Enamel factory is also open to the public – the Kazimierz Jewish quarter has been extensively renovated. Numerous tours are available on which you can learn about the history and inhabitants of the quarter.

CRACOW'S CHURCHES

No visit to Cracow would be complete without a tour of its churches, which show how the city has developed over the centuries. Don't miss the Franciscan Church, the Wawel Cathedral or the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul.

CRACOW FOR THE FEARLESS

The Lost Souls Alley interactive museum is not for those with weak nerves. Dedicated to the basic human emotion of fear, it's nonetheless a big hit with visitors. For souvenir shopping, we recommend the area around Rynek Główny square.
