Explore Kronberg

A walk through the idyllic resort town of Kronberg is well worth it. Stroll through the well-preserved old town with its numerous half-timbered houses, explore Kronberg Castle and the keep, marvel at the botanic splendour in Victoria Park, or discover the numerous local galleries and shops.

The exact location

Vienna House MQ Kronberg im Taunus is centrally located directly on the S-Bahn train line, between the train station and the new Casals Forum with Music Academy. The ideal starting point for trips to Frankfurt or to explore the Taunus region.

  • Hessian time travel

The Hessenpark is one of the most popular excursion destinations. History can be experienced up close in the 65 ha open-air museum. More than 100 buildings, including half-timbered houses and windmills that have been demolished elsewhere, have been reconstructed here to form a museum village and convey an impression of historical life. Traditional crafts, agriculture and medieval architecture are vividly presented in various historical permanent exhibitions. Countless shops offer locally manufactured goods – from art objects to food – for sale.

  • Looking for souvenirs?

Surprise your loved ones with a souvenir from the Taunus. Regional specialties and crafts can be found in the Hessian delicatessen shop Zeit und Genuss or at the smal shop in the hotel.

  • Casals Forum

The most harmonious neighbour you could wish for – the Casals Forum being built next door promises to be a concert hall of international standing. The students of Kronberg Academy, together with the renowned and award-winning Chamber Orchestra of Europe, will fill the room with the most beautiful sounds.

  • For golfers, 18 holes of green

The par-68 Golfclub Kronberg with a length of 4,434 m will truly challenge your golfing skill. With a slope rating of 122 for men and 124 for the ladies, the course is more demanding than one might think. This is your chance to hit, drive and shoot your way through an impressive castle park with old trees and flowering bushes.

  • Go climb a mountain!

Reaching 798 metres above sea level, the nearby Altkönig isn’t exactly a giant but it is definitely worth a leisurely hike. Guaranteed car-free, the only way to get to the summit is by following one of the many hiking trails. In addition to beautiful forests, you will be rewarded with a fantastic panorama and views over Frankfurt all the way to the Odenwald. Or conquer the Großer Feldberg. The Taunus is truly a natural paradise.

  • Animals as seen on TV

The local Opel Zoo is well-known for its appearance on a zoo reality documentary in German television. The sprawling complex is home to over 220 species – from A as in alpaca to Z as in zebra. Take a leisurely stroll through the park and learn more about the different animals. Are you travelling with a dog? No problem! On the leash, you can take your four-legged friend with you. The zoo can get quite crowded on weekends, so here’s a little tip: leave the car at the hotel and take bus line 261 directly to the zoo.

  • Like a fairy tale

Countless forts rise majestically out of the woods, beautiful castles and ruins line the rivers. Many of them are in very good condition and almost all are open to the public. Homburg Castle dates back to the 14th century and was the summer residence of the Prussian kings and German emperors. Like the forts of Kronberg and Eppstein, it thrones on the mountains and offers a magnificent view. Schloss Biebrich, a truly artistic baroque castle, lies directly on the Rhine. A boat trip along the river is well worth it, passing numerous vineyards, romantic castles and palaces with the Taunus in the background.
