City of bay windows, culture and Father Rhine
The picturesque old city centre from the renaissance, gentle vineyards and the Rhine’s clear water form the backdrop of the enchanting city of Schaffhausen in Switzerland’s canton of the same name. The historic city centre is marked by grand magnificent buildings that were constructed by the guilds. Munot Castle rises above the city, just like an imposing cherry on the cake.
THE EXACT LOCATION
The Vienna House Zur Bleiche Schaffhausen is located centrally in Schaffhausen, close to the main station and on the outskirts of the old town. Schaffhausen lies between Lake Constance and the Black Forest. The entire region offers many opportunities for rewarding trips by bike, boat or postbus. You will find the headquarters and production facilities of numerous renowned international companies here.

A swim in the Rhine
If you want to swim against the stream, you can do so safely in Switzerland’s oldest Kastenbad (a public bath in the river) – the Rhybadi. The historic river bath lies in the river Rhine like a boat and offers its guest cooling down and entertainment after work. The “Fluba”, the public bath in Flurlingen, is a simple river bath with sandy banks a little further downstream.

An indulgence for heart and soul
The little bell of Schaffhausen’s landmark Munot that tolls for five minutes every night at 9:00 p.m. is always pulled manually. And then it’s high time for a glass of Swiss white wine that will perfectly pair with the local specialties, Schaffhauser Rieslingsuppe (white wine soup) or Zwiebelwähe (onion tart). Those with a sweet tooth should absolutely try Schaffhauser Züngli – crunchy hazelnut almond cookies filled with butter cream.
